He is the most worthless piece of crap on this team!
That’s two days in a row that he Ks against shit pitchers with big runs on base. We will NEVER win any world series with lazy shitbags like him on our roster.
he made the inference that a lot of negativity comes out when the Cubs are not winning
and you told him to shut up. Since then you (and many others) have made several negative posts, seemingly proving his point. So I’m just wondering why you told him to shut up.
I don’t think the players are lazy. Its just a badly assembled team to begin with, and when you have injuries and underperformers a small problem becomes a disaster. No real leadoff hitter, no team speed, no bullpen, and unexpectantly, no team power.
because we’re soooo dead in the water that scoreboard watching is a pointless exercise, even if there are more than three and a half months left in the season.
dead in the water? Is this your first baseball season? If so, welcome, I/‘m sure you’ll find with time that most divisional winners find themselves 4 or 5 games out at some point in the season.
i would really love for someone in this lineup to surprise me. Talk about a team that expects to lose rather than expects to win. Can read it in the body language.
you are an ass. I’ve had it with you. You ignore every negative post except my own. I made like 15 positive comments in this game. You are by far the biggest ass I’ve ever encountered and you have ruined this whole board for me. Rot in hell.
It’s just hard to believe a team with this high of a payroll is lucky to be on par with the Reds. You’re right, Ken, All-Star break. I’ll give it until then.
is the general implosion of the Cardinals pitching staff. Eleven runs the last two days to the Rox, and they’ve allowed seven so far today. And Lohse is now hurt.
to believe Marmol was used WAY too much and someone else should have been there. I thought it should be Ascanio but
someone other than Marmol would have been a good idea.
When it merits. I also understand what baseball is, and there are EXTREME highs and EXTREME lows. I believe in averages and the length of the season. I believe in supporting my team, not ripping them apart because its the convenient thing to do.
I’m sorry I wear my positivity on my sleeve. But i think people who get off on just putting the team down are weak, and are afraid to care, and are afraid to be hurt by heart breaking losses.
It’s chicken shit. It’s a defense mechanism. Man up, get behind your team and bleed blue.
He was considered a large cog to the better Mariners’ hitting teams, and was very instrumental in the approach at the plate that won us 97 games last year
Folks, I’m not a ledge jumper and will be a Cub fan forever. However, I can’t spend all day on this game. Besides, the commercials are driving me crazy.
I’m out of here. If the Cubs win in the next inning, I give you permission to toss me off of the next game thread.
just got back 30 minutes ago from Cincy after watching the debacle last night
left my family reunion there .. they’ve been there for 5 hours in the sun
and see who wanted him in to start the 8th. Yes Drew he might have sucked then but anyone but Marmol.
Patton could have walked two guys and got none out too.
He faced most of the line up but my main point was
Lou is a F)(^%^R%%%ing IDIOT for putting Mamol in AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN
Is there anyone left besides Lou that does NOT think he has been overused ( maybe Blou) ?
Let's go, Milton!
Clutch16 - June 7, 2009

Not first, but close!
Game winning thread here.
Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009
Blanco
puts down a good bunt. Bradley to second. Soto in to pinch hit. One out.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Scales has pinch run for Bradley
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
wow, someone on the Cubs who actually knows how to lay down a bunt
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
Aside from Wells
Clutch16 - June 7, 2009
should have said position player
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
Gotcha.
Clutch16 - June 7, 2009
but then you wouldn't have been able to be so negative
heine41 - June 7, 2009
hey hey
nice to see
BeltwayCubsFan - June 7, 2009
OMG! OMG! Stop the press!
We executed a sac bunt
SackMan - June 7, 2009
Nice bunt Blanco.
KaliCub - June 7, 2009
Execution!
BleedsbluinMI - June 7, 2009
Andy White with the sac bunt
Scales to second.
Clutch16 - June 7, 2009
I like that kid Andy. If he could only hit .250 he might stay.
zevkalman - June 7, 2009
Soto
Better get it done here because the hack is on deck.
krummy12 - June 7, 2009
He really doesn't look all that interested
Clutch16 - June 7, 2009
Dusty
brings in a new pitcher.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
David Weathers?
Don’t we hit this guy all over the park?
Clutch16 - June 7, 2009
Man, WGN sure wants us to watch Uncle Buck
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
That and WWE Superstars.
Yawn.
Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009
I've never seen so many promos for a 20 year old movie
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
More money for the great John Candy's estate...
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009
Movie Underground
I think I’ll be watching the Movie Underground.
kofspades - June 7, 2009
You'll be watching the very feminine co-host.
Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009
that kid ended up with mila kunis
he clearly did something right
BeltwayCubsFan - June 7, 2009
Strike one
on Soto. Ron says the pitcher is missing his spots.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
So is Soto
SackMan - June 7, 2009
Weathers doesn't have any spots
Clutch16 - June 7, 2009
How can he tell after the first pitch?
Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009
by the way the catcher
set up, I guess.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Swing and a miss.
strike two.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Soto
Should not be hitting here. Hoffpauir should be.
krummy12 - June 7, 2009
email
lou@hedoesn’tcarewhatyouthink.com
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Jerseys
Just root for jerseys.
krummy12 - June 7, 2009
that's what we do anyway.
that’s what you do. Root for laundry.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
huh?
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
the name on the front of the jersey
is more important than the name on the back.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Agreed.
zevkalman - June 7, 2009
sigh
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
He doesn't care what any of us think.
KaliCub - June 7, 2009
you got that right.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
you understand this is a place to voice your opinions right?
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
of course, just wish some people weren't so one sided
heine41 - June 7, 2009
Just saying we are hear to talk about our opinions.
Lou or Jim don’t care either way what any of us think.
KaliCub - June 7, 2009
or Fox
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
Why Soto?
Lou is out of his mind! WHy the hell are Hoff and Fox on the team then???
Itchy - June 7, 2009
Ump doesn't appear to be squeezing the Reds' pitchers as much. That first pitch? Meh.
zevkalman - June 7, 2009
just outside
1-2
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
soto at the plate = clueless
even if he hit that 0-1 pitch it would have traveled about 5 feet.
BeltwayCubsFan - June 7, 2009
wwwwoooooooo
i’d keep pitching him out there too, eventually soto will weakly ground out somewhere
BeltwayCubsFan - June 7, 2009
Soto
grounds to short. Scales to third. Two outs.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Scales to 3rd... two out
SackMan - June 7, 2009
Wow
Haven’t seen that before.
krummy12 - June 7, 2009
thanks for playing soto
that’s about as hard as you hit the ball these days
BeltwayCubsFan - June 7, 2009
You didn't see his dinger last night.
Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009
that was a huge hit
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
guess you didnt see the banger off the foul pole last night
but that doesnt support your claim, so we’ll just ignore it
heine41 - June 7, 2009
Do you even
think before you post?
sue369 - June 7, 2009
Is that required?
Uh-oh…
Clutch16 - June 7, 2009
Terrible at-bat
You know Weathers is going to be throwing everything away.
Why not look to right field?
ElHijoDelRonSanto - June 7, 2009
Because chicks don't dig opposite field hits.
SackMan - June 7, 2009
hahahaha
+1
heine41 - June 7, 2009
Soriano
takes a strike. 0-1.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
be a nice time for soriano to find one.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
This will be good
Guess hitter up.
krummy12 - June 7, 2009
Lazy
And disinterested, too.
Clutch16 - June 7, 2009
2-1 on Soriano
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
strike two called
2-2 on Soriano
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
hey, maybe we'll get a wild pitch
when they throw the slider in the dirt.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
Soriano won't run anyway.
Itchy - June 7, 2009
Soriano at bat. Our 8-year, $136 million superstar will come through.
zevkalman - June 7, 2009
What have you done for me lately huh?
heine41 - June 7, 2009
Time to flail
Here it comes.
krummy12 - June 7, 2009
Start earning your pay, Sori!
salparadise23 - June 7, 2009
Sori
with a good at bat here. Fouls another one back.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
boy, that 2-2 was a mistake pitch
Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009
Which one?
Clutch16 - June 7, 2009
Missed
Just missed the only pitch he’s going to get.
krummy12 - June 7, 2009
Another one.
CubsBullsBears - June 7, 2009
And another
Those last two pitches cannot be missed by guys getting paid that much.
krummy12 - June 7, 2009
yes!
because the amount of money you have in your wallet is a MAGIC TALISMAN against EVER MISSING THE BALL!
Hall of Fame careers are made on missing 7 out of 10 times. Get some freakin’ perspective.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Jerseys
Like I said, just root for colors. It’s easier that way.
krummy12 - June 7, 2009
and like I said
you don’t do anything different — except that you don’t actually seem to want them to win.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
its squaring up a round ball with a round bat, both of which are traveling at high rates of speed
heine41 - June 7, 2009
K
SackMan - June 7, 2009
Soriano
strikes out swinging on a fastball.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
yuck
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
I agree.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Here it comes....
heine41 - June 7, 2009
here it comes
and every ounce of it is deserved. Biggest payroll bust in baseball. Our AAA team could score more runs than the current Cubs flavor
BeltwayCubsFan - June 7, 2009
incorrect
heine41 - June 7, 2009
shocking
ElHijoDelRonSanto - June 7, 2009
Colordao leading STL
Going for the sweep, yes?
salparadise23 - June 7, 2009
Does it really matter? We can't win anyway.
SackMan - June 7, 2009
yes
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
yeah, he got two pitches to hit.
and missed badly. needs some time off.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
There he is
Folks, there is the “best LF in baseball” right there.
krummy12 - June 7, 2009
don't know one person whos claimed fonz as the best LF in baseball
heine41 - June 7, 2009
Paging Drew
Drewishdrewid to the white courtesy phone, please
Clutch16 - June 7, 2009
Try Drew
He thinks so. Just ask him. Right now.
krummy12 - June 7, 2009
you would be incorrect.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
No, but there have been claims of best LF in the National League
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
that
would be correct.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
just curious, where do you think he stands in all of baseball
and who do you rank ahead of him?
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
I don't follow the AL
so I really couldn’t tell ya.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Jason Bay?
heine41 - June 7, 2009
and who would you rather have
heine41 - June 7, 2009
ryan braun.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
shocking
the only unknown is what inning the Reds walk-off will be. Our offense is done for the day. 3 runs is a good showing for them
BeltwayCubsFan - June 7, 2009
I want our Cubs to win, just to shut you and your negativity up...
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009
get lost
why don’t you look at about 15 prior posts where i speak positively. You single me out every time.
BeltwayCubsFan - June 7, 2009
whatever.
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009
i haven't seen one positive one?
heine41 - June 7, 2009
Where?
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
then turn it off
and walk away.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
We better win this in the tenth.
I’ve got a date in 1 hr and I don’t think she’ll understand about missing because the Cubs ran late.
KaliCub - June 7, 2009
Ha. At least Cubs fans are late, and not premature :-)
zevkalman - June 7, 2009
ha ha, I'll tell her that.
KaliCub - June 7, 2009
Soriano is such a fucking hack.
kanderber - June 7, 2009
Please watch your language.
sue369 - June 7, 2009
Yes, don't mind the frustration but not so much the language.
KaliCub - June 7, 2009
He is the most worthless piece of crap on this team!
That’s two days in a row that he Ks against shit pitchers with big runs on base. We will NEVER win any world series with lazy shitbags like him on our roster.
Itchy - June 7, 2009
STFU
I’m sure you can figure that one out.
Orval Overall - June 7, 2009
GFY
Maybe you can figure that one out.
Itchy - June 7, 2009
yeah, pretty sure I can
Pretty sure I can also do without your particular brand of color commentary.
Orval Overall - June 7, 2009
and yet you told another poster to shut up not that long ago when they made a negative post
the least you could do is be consistent…
ballhawk - June 7, 2009
I told a guy to shut up because he was complaining about negative posts
Itchy - June 7, 2009
Which he had every right to do.
sue369 - June 7, 2009
he made the inference that a lot of negativity comes out when the Cubs are not winning
and you told him to shut up. Since then you (and many others) have made several negative posts, seemingly proving his point. So I’m just wondering why you told him to shut up.
ballhawk - June 7, 2009
i'd settle for a LF
that hit above .250 and wasn’t on pace to strike out 150+ times
BeltwayCubsFan - June 7, 2009
Right.
Because he’ll definitely bat .250 the whole year.
/sarcasm
Schwa - June 7, 2009
Soto in to catch
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Gregg in...
Ugh
salparadise23 - June 7, 2009
Get this guy, Gregg
Itchy - June 7, 2009

cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009

Clutch16 - June 7, 2009
Nice job
Itchy - June 7, 2009
Hairston
pops up to Blanco. One out.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Hairston
Same Jerry Hairston I recall from his days in Chicago. Foot-dragging and all.
krummy12 - June 7, 2009
1-1
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
it has nothing to do with lazy players
I don’t think the players are lazy. Its just a badly assembled team to begin with, and when you have injuries and underperformers a small problem becomes a disaster. No real leadoff hitter, no team speed, no bullpen, and unexpectantly, no team power.
BeltwayCubsFan - June 7, 2009
Have they said what the Cubs' record
in extras is this year? I’m guessing it’s a losing record?
salparadise23 - June 7, 2009
2-4
I think
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Pretty sure they are 2-4.
Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009
Seems like they almost all have been on the road.
Itchy - June 7, 2009
Fouled away
1-2.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Okay, all
Gotta get some food with the best girl in the world. Adios.
Clutch16 - June 7, 2009

drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
fly ball to right center

cubbiepride - June 7, 2009

cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
A 1-2-3 inning for Gregg?
Someone wake me up….
salparadise23 - June 7, 2009
except for Marmol
the pen has done pretty well.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
and do we have any doubt marmol won't come around
heine41 - June 7, 2009
Not if pitches every game.
KaliCub - June 7, 2009
agreed, that is definitely an issue
heine41 - June 7, 2009
I think
he can figure it out.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
+3
KaliCub - June 7, 2009
Marmol, unfortunately, is a trainwreck right now
A friend just called wondering if Lou has a tendency to get into some of these guys’ heads and mess them up.
Why do I get the feeling that if we traded Marmol he’d immediately turn into Mariano Rivera?
bluekoolaide - June 7, 2009
He actually pitched a nice inning.
zevkalman - June 7, 2009
When?
Itchy - June 7, 2009
Gregg?
the bottom of the last one. 1-2-3.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
what a deal! :-\
CubfaninRaleigh(869milestoWrigley) - June 7, 2009

Chili, spaghetti and beans???
Man, I can feel the gas building up as I speak.
For those of you on the radio, WGN TV just featured a Cincy eatery that is definitely heart attack city.
Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009
I like Cincy chili with all those onions.

zevkalman - June 7, 2009
But we shouldn't care...
because we’re soooo dead in the water that scoreboard watching is a pointless exercise, even if there are more than three and a half months left in the season.
Chris Dobbertean - June 7, 2009
lol post of the day
heine41 - June 7, 2009

dead in the water? Is this your first baseball season? If so, welcome, I/‘m sure you’ll find with time that most divisional winners find themselves 4 or 5 games out at some point in the season.

Dusty is such a masterful and skillful manager, all the others are mystified by his cunning :-)
zevkalman - June 7, 2009
0-1
on Lee
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
C'mon D. Lee!!
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009
fouls one away
0-2 on lee
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
it seems like every team
just pitches our entire lineup outside corner all day.
BeltwayCubsFan - June 7, 2009
yep. and that's why we went out and got the lefties,
rather than trying to develop a better approach.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
I'm calling a RF gapper from Lee.......
salparadise23 - June 7, 2009
Boy, that pitcher is right on that outside corner.
Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009
Lee
fouls another one off to the right.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
is it just me
or is Lee and team fouling off a lot of mistake pitches.
BeltwayCubsFan - June 7, 2009
I noticed that too..
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
Lee
flies out to center. Two outs. Fonty to the plate.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Lee FO
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
like to see fonte turn on one.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
pfffttttttt
i would really love for someone in this lineup to surprise me. Talk about a team that expects to lose rather than expects to win. Can read it in the body language.
BeltwayCubsFan - June 7, 2009
please go away. you're tedious
Talk about a fan that expects to lose rather than expects to win. Can read it in the monoface type.
Orval Overall - June 7, 2009
It really gets freaking old doesn't it?
sue369 - June 7, 2009
not really.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
You aren't in here
very often and yes it does get old.
sue369 - June 7, 2009
ancient.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
oh my god you're outrageous
heine41 - June 7, 2009
FUCK YOU Henie41
you are an ass. I’ve had it with you. You ignore every negative post except my own. I made like 15 positive comments in this game. You are by far the biggest ass I’ve ever encountered and you have ruined this whole board for me. Rot in hell.
BeltwayCubsFan - June 7, 2009
the medicine cabinet is above the sink
Orval Overall - June 7, 2009
Hey, cool down. Things could be worse. We could be Nats fans :-)
zevkalman - June 7, 2009
no silly, the nats don't have fans
Orval Overall - June 7, 2009
I live in the DC area and I attest that there are Nats fans.
But they don’t care too much about things. Wear your Nats hat and go play in Arlington with the hot chicks. Nice lifestyle.
zevkalman - June 7, 2009
nice
I respond to plenty of negative comments. If you feel i respond to yours all the time, its because they are probably ignorant sentiments.
heine41 - June 7, 2009
They don't expect to lose
it’s just that most of them are crappy bench players forced to play every day because our GM was so incredibly inept this offseason.
Itchy - June 7, 2009
Let's go LBR
Get a hit or no hamster food tonight…
salparadise23 - June 7, 2009
Boy, no offense to LBR but I really miss Rami right now.
Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009
we all miss
Rami.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
i bet fonte even misses rami
heine41 - June 7, 2009
I should think
Mike Fontenot wants nothing more than to go back to second base.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Interesting Observation...
Brenley notes that Lee ran only about 1/3 of the way down the line. Sounds like he is in the tank a bit.
Ross - June 7, 2009
Give him a pass for one time.
KaliCub - June 7, 2009
brenly has been a lot critical lately.. what's going on?
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
Not liking the product on the field?
zevkalman - June 7, 2009
He wants to follow the Steve Stone career path
and end up with the Sox…
salparadise23 - June 7, 2009
What the heck are these guys doing on the road
to make them so listless?
Are they in the titty bars all night?
salparadise23 - June 7, 2009

drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Does Gregg go out there again?
salparadise23 - June 7, 2009
I don't see why not
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
What about the whole can't sit down and come back out thing?
KaliCub - June 7, 2009
I think it was only in cold weather
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
Gregg's knee problems
mean he apparently can’t get back up to pitch.
Poloplaya14 - June 7, 2009
I was under the impression
that was a cold-weather issue.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Doubtful
Not on his knee.
Poloplaya14 - June 7, 2009
another foul
still 0-2
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009

cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009

SackMan - June 7, 2009

drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009

SackMan - June 7, 2009

KaliCub - June 7, 2009
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009

BleedsbluinMI - June 7, 2009
Bobbled by Gonzalez...
And everyone is safe. I cringed when I heard that.

SackMan - June 7, 2009
Does this team EVER...
take advantage of a situation like this?
kanderber - June 7, 2009
yes, in 2010
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
No, they don't
Question isn’t are they going to lose…it’s just how long is it going to take?
bluekoolaide - June 7, 2009
inning over..
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
Crapola
Hoff pops it up to third. Three outs.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Sigh!
Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009
Oooof
too bad
Orval Overall - June 7, 2009

salparadise23 - June 7, 2009
What a pathetic effort
These failures with RISP have now enveloped the entire roster.
Itchy - June 7, 2009
you're nuts
how is swing on a two-two count a pathetic effort???
you would SHIT YOUR PANTS if you were in that situation
heine41 - June 7, 2009
The only good things today
are that the Brewers lost and the Cardinals are losing. That’s it.
Not Bruce Froemming - June 7, 2009
and that the Cubs are still playing...
Orval Overall - June 7, 2009

cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
True enough
Hate extra innings on the road, though.
Not Bruce Froemming - June 7, 2009
yep
sue369 - June 7, 2009
Not really. I had a nice swim during the middle innings. And my kid is pitching in 30 mins.
And the Cubs are gonna win…..maybe….
zevkalman - June 7, 2009
not the fact that we can still wn and gain a game
on the top 3 clubs?
cubsfaninatl - June 7, 2009
Oh, that, too
but the Cubs have squandered far too many opportunities today.
Not Bruce Froemming - June 7, 2009
so true...
cubsfaninatl - June 7, 2009
Congratulations...
Churakumar.
CubsBullsBears - June 7, 2009
whoz that?
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
Lottery winner.
CubsBullsBears - June 7, 2009
I'm quickly losing my patience with this team.
Everything’s becoming a circus—Lou’s managerial decisions, Bradley’s injuries, Soto’s weight, Marmol walking every first batter.
dtpollitt - June 7, 2009
It's just seems no one has their head on straight
no fundamentals and constant mental and physical errors. Here’s the latest joke of a play!!
Itchy - June 7, 2009
well, they call the circus the greatest show on earth...
…so give it a little more time. At least until July 31st. That will still give you two months of mental freedom if you wanna pack it in then.
ballhawk - June 7, 2009
It’s just hard to believe a team with this high of a payroll is lucky to be on par with the Reds. You’re right, Ken, All-Star break. I’ll give it until then.
dtpollitt - June 7, 2009
Ascanio
in to pitch.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
the way we're stranding runners
we don’t deserve to win.
bluekoolaide - June 7, 2009
Nix
pops one up high, Dome runs in, Blanco can’t make the catch, Nix to second.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
blanco drops..winning run in scoring position
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
Wow
cubbiepride - June 7, 2009
Perfect spot, my aching ass
that ball has to be caught.
ElHijoDelRonSanto - June 7, 2009
try to get the out at third.
then load em up.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
That's Fuku's ball!!!!
He has to take charge out there!!!
Itchy - June 7, 2009
Blanco understands Spanish, but not Japanese.
;-)
Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009
Fuku not taking charge of his own balls?
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
Alright, first we had someone dumping in right field.
Now, our right fielder is taking charge of his balls.
What’s next?
Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009
it was hit very far from Dome...he never caught up to it....
zevkalman - June 7, 2009
He misjudged it and broke back but still coulda caught it.
Itchy - June 7, 2009
perfect bunt
cubswgnrocks - June 7, 2009
Is this a rerun from last night?
Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009
perfect bunt to move runner to 3rd..winning run at 3rd now with 1 out
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
i think we'll probably lose on a bb.
but gotta load em up.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
About time for the Reds
to jump around in a circle at home plate.
ElHijoDelRonSanto - June 7, 2009
Well, let's see if they choke like we did.
I hope so.
Itchy - June 7, 2009
Bunt
pushes the runner over. One out, runner at third.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
why are we not walking this guy?
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
Broken bat fly ball to right
Nix HOLDS at third.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009

ballhawk - June 7, 2009
Did you ever catch a broken bat on Waveland, ballhawk? :-)
zevkalman - June 7, 2009
dollar bills, a cold, shit, floating tickets, peanuts, rooftop beer spillage, and of course home run balls...
…but never a broken bat. yet.
ballhawk - June 7, 2009
wow. that was really stupid. and really lucky.

Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009
Long's Peak?
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009
No, I was nearby though.
I just went up to Fern Falls and Cub Lake, which now that I think of it, was appropriate.
Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009
Beautiful climb.
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009
Yeah, and yesterday was a beautiful day.
It’s been very cloudy here lately. Unusual for Colorado.
Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009
That is unusual, sunny 300 days a year there normally...
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009
That's for sure.
I grew up near Chicago, and now, I get suicidal if it’s cloudy more than two days in a row. Had to go hiking yesterday, just to take advantage.
Hello to Mrtobby. I live down in Broomfield.
Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009

cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
I just did 20M. Marathon in two weeks. Does that count?
dtpollitt - June 7, 2009
Yes,
I have done a marathon too. 20 miles counts as much as 26 miles.
Vermont Cubs Fan - June 7, 2009

Orval Overall - June 7, 2009

cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
Great job, Ascanio!
ElHijoDelRonSanto - June 7, 2009
Yes it was!
Lou needs to be a little more creative and not always shove Marmol out there in the 8th. Those two walks prevented a victory.
Itchy - June 7, 2009
A 9 inning victory that is
we could still take this one.
Itchy - June 7, 2009
Wow, great job getting out of that jam.
KaliCub - June 7, 2009
inning ovah
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
Solid
A very solid inning from Ascanio.
krummy12 - June 7, 2009
Well, the Cubs survive
maybe the 12th will be the breakthrough inning.
This has been quite a week, hasn’t it?
Not Bruce Froemming - June 7, 2009
I am sorry for Lou..
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
Why ?
Doggie Stalker - June 7, 2009
he looks really tired and just lost in there
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
True. I think he needs to take some time off
Doggie Stalker - June 7, 2009
I just want to win
or lose a laugher to give the pen a break, and to reduce the tension.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
What's been entertaining to watch
is the general implosion of the Cardinals pitching staff. Eleven runs the last two days to the Rox, and they’ve allowed seven so far today. And Lohse is now hurt.
Not Bruce Froemming - June 7, 2009
meanwhile their offense is actually worse than ours,
though they do have pujols, who is nearly better than our entire team.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
Indeed
Aside from El Hombre, they haven’t had a lot of punch in the lineup.
Heck, Pujols even had two RBI on ONE sac fly today.
Not Bruce Froemming - June 7, 2009
how did he do THAT?
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Ok just to say I told you so
Why didn’t Ascanio start the 8th ?
Doggie Stalker - June 7, 2009
well
no way to know if he pitches that well in the 8th.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Yes but pretty good reason
to believe Marmol was used WAY too much and someone else should have been there. I thought it should be Ascanio but
someone other than Marmol would have been a good idea.
Doggie Stalker - June 7, 2009
Brwers lost, Cards losing, If we win we can gain on everyone.
Big day for an extra inning win.
KaliCub - June 7, 2009

yes. i'm looking to shake things up.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
by getting into a strike out, throw out double play?
Soto misses the ball far too often to try that
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
Is it my imagination or does Soto really look much fatter than he was in ST?
zevkalman - June 7, 2009
Geo bunting?
CubsBullsBears - June 7, 2009
Great AB!
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009
Soto
bunts it foul. 0-1
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
He's 0-Career on sac bunts!!!
Itchy - June 7, 2009
ok
dunno what to tell ya.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Put your weight into it Geo!
salparadise23 - June 7, 2009
put the hit and run on please, just once.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
I think that would require managerial skills, something Lou has yet to display in 2009.
dtpollitt - June 7, 2009
it would aslo require insanity to try it with Soto at the plate
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
Rockies up 7-2 in the 9th
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Soto bunts foul
again. 0-2
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
C'mon Han!
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009
jesus.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
PRETEND IT'S A DOUGHNUT! HIT THE DOUGHNUT AND RUN AFTER IT!
dtpollitt - June 7, 2009
Ha ha.
zevkalman - June 7, 2009
Given Geo's effort on that last attempt...
time to shake off the bunt sign.
Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009
More great fundamentals on display
Itchy - June 7, 2009
Don't they teach bunting in Iowa?
zevkalman - June 7, 2009
How about in Peoria, Tenn, Daytona, or Mesa??
The Cub farm system is a pile of crap! Who was the last decent OF that it produced? Dwight Smith?
Itchy - June 7, 2009
Who is Micah Hoffpauir?
/s
dtpollitt - June 7, 2009
Who is Sam Fuld?
heine41 - June 7, 2009
I think
Matt Murton qualifies as “decent”.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
just inside
1-2
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Bob sounds irritated
CubsBullsBears - June 7, 2009
whew. that was too close to take.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
Soto
fouls another one off to the right. still 1-2.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Wells had no trouble bunting today
Why can’t anyone else on this team bunt?!
salparadise23 - June 7, 2009
dome can do it all day.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
maybe he'll get hbp.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
Might lose the ball in there.
salparadise23 - June 7, 2009
There's more to hit there, right?
dtpollitt - June 7, 2009
down low
2-2
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
C'mon Han Soto!!
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009
Let the force guide you...
Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009
Ancient weapons and hokey religions....
salparadise23 - June 7, 2009
are no match for a trusty blaster at your side
heine41 - June 7, 2009
just bounce one off the foul pole!
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
why don't they call this pitcher
for delay of game?
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
25 seconds right?
heine41 - June 7, 2009
Soto
bounces one to third. Blanco advances to second, Soto out at first.
As good as a bunt.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
good enough.
now, let’s have a miracle.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
At least he moved the runner up...
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009
What is this, the third inning in a row the Cubs get a man to second with one out?
Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009
God, I wish I could expect anything other than a strikeout here
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
you could, if you wanted to
heine41 - June 7, 2009
if they walk him, i'm gonna freak out.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
ibb, that is.
throw it in the dirt!
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
He'll come through now.
Schwa - June 7, 2009
Ball one to Soriano
1-0
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Soto has to lead MLB in groundouts to SS!!
Itchy - June 7, 2009
Here we go again!!
Itchy - June 7, 2009
breaking ball down low
2-0
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
BB: The $136 million guy needs to go to RF. Think he'll do it?
I’m just hopin’ he walks.
zevkalman - June 7, 2009
didn't get the chance.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Ball three
3-0
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
3-0 on fonzie
cubswgnrocks - June 7, 2009
intentional
walk to Soriano.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Later y'all, bring home the victory.
And be nice.
KaliCub - June 7, 2009
Open the doors for the lady!
BleedsbluinMI - June 7, 2009
Bring flowers. Don't forget to say "Yes, dear, I'm sorry." :-)
zevkalman - June 7, 2009
Thanx for the advice, hopefully we all bring it home.
KaliCub - June 7, 2009
wow.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
what the hell is Burton doing?
not that I mind it, but what a terrible approach against one of the majors’ coldest hitters
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
they heard he makes a lot of money and so pitched around him with first base open.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
you think there is any less chance he hits a home run on the next swing?
heine41 - June 7, 2009
if they throw it outside there's very little chance
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
Soriano
is streaky enough that he could switch tracks in the middle of an at-bat, much less the middle of a game.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
They're working around him...
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009
i still want to see a hit and run.
make it happen.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
with Riot, it's not an asinine thing to ask for
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
i'd love to see it in this spot.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
Riot's had a good day
go ahead and walk Sori
salparadise23 - June 7, 2009
two on
one out. Riot to the plate. NOW is the time to poke one to right field, Riot.
Dusty makes a pitching change. Fisher to come in.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Worst player in the history of worstness
I can’t BELIEVE he took that ball 4. Didn’t he know we needed a homer!?!?!?!?
Orval Overall - June 7, 2009
these are literally never funny
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
yes, incredibly lame.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
To a wanderingwanderer
I thought perhaps it might be.
Orval Overall - June 7, 2009
nope
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
heh
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Dusty's thinking.
We’ve got a chance now.
Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009
Riot's turn to stop this distgusting tren of RISP failures!!
Itchy - June 7, 2009
Not to mention the disgusting trend that goes with the tren
Just kidding. I make more typos here than anyone.
Doggie Stalker - June 7, 2009
Look away Ryan
and go to RF
salparadise23 - June 7, 2009
Double switch
new SS, new pitcher. Yonesh at short. Fisher to pitch. Riot at the plate, two on, one out.
Outside, ball one.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
2-0
on Riot
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Get a friggin hit!
SackMan - June 7, 2009
Riot
grounds one foul towards third. 2-1.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Take a pitch Riot, make him throw you a strike!
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009
low
3-1 on Riot
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
now, just get your pitch and split a gap.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
LEAVE THE BAT ON YOUR SHOULDER!!
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009
Riot
pulls another one foul. 3-2.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
I get the feeling that Brenley doesn't like Theriot's approach at the plate these days
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
he's trying to
pull the ball.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
make him throw a good one.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
Yes, Pat, you send the runners...
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009
A walk and a Dome sac fly plz
salparadise23 - June 7, 2009
A friggin hit please!
SackMan - June 7, 2009
nah, sal's the idea man. you drive.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
Runners go
Riot fouls another one off.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
about the third ball four of the at-bat
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
Riot
fouls another one off.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Good ABs this inning...
salparadise23 - June 7, 2009
strike three called
throw to third in time. Three outs.
FRAK.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
crap
cubswgnrocks - June 7, 2009
WE SUCK
SackMan - June 7, 2009
No we don't
heine41 - June 7, 2009
so ugly.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
and Riot watches strike three right down the middle
and allows Blanco to get thrown out
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
These are literally never funny.
Orval Overall - June 7, 2009
didn't work.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
since I wasn't using sarcasm, or attempting humor
FAIL
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
AYFKM??????
Ross - June 7, 2009
What a f-ing joke this team is!!!
Itchy - June 7, 2009
I disagree
heine41 - June 7, 2009
they are playing poorly.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
at times
heine41 - June 7, 2009
All year we have failed to take advantage of our opportunities
Eventually, we’ll find ourselves in 4th place! Oh wait, we’re already there!!! We are a joke.
Itchy - June 7, 2009
4.5
games back. It’s not like we’re the White Sox.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
the Whitesox are only 4 out of their division
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
LOL
dtpollitt - June 7, 2009
really?
last I heard, they were playing very very poorly. I don’t follow them….
they’re also playing .473
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
and are just about to lose 2 out of 3 to the 'lowly' Indians
(start the meter…)
ballhawk - June 7, 2009
ok, you can choose the stats you would like to
We have been decimated by injuries
We are 4.5 out of first.
The N.L. central is the best division in baseball
our ownership situation is in flux and managements hands are tied
2009 is NOT 2008. This team is going to have to learn how to win again, and once we DO, we WILL be better prepared for the post season
heine41 - June 7, 2009
SEE PEOPLE! THAT'S HOW YOU TROLL!
GOOD JOB, HEINE.
dtpollitt - June 7, 2009
why not just put the hit and run on early in the count?
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
God, that's unbelievable.
Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009
You swing at 4 balls...
And watch strike 3? Sheesh…
CubsBullsBears - June 7, 2009
sounds about right for the 2009 version of the Chicago Cubs
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
Not a partcularly good AB by Theriot.
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009
Just another role player that somehow we have come to expect miracles from!
Hendry’s got to go!!! He built this giant choking mess!!!
Itchy - June 7, 2009
getting a base hit is not a miracle
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
For this team, it is!!!
Itchy - June 7, 2009
Never fear, people. We have Lou, but THEY have Dusty! Oh, wait! We have Freel!
zevkalman - June 7, 2009
lol
cubswgnrocks - June 7, 2009
+1
Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009
I love it!
Itchy - June 7, 2009
Cards lose
salparadise23 - June 7, 2009
That chili gives me a heart attack just looking at it.
Made fresh every OTHER day. Hate to get it near the end of the second day.
Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009
With two strikes
how can you be so locked in on a fastball that you take a curve?
Don’t you have to be protecting the plate? Especially with the runners moving?
ElHijoDelRonSanto - June 7, 2009
that's baseball smarts
and Theriot has very few of those
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
was that one sarcasm?
cuz I still don’t get the joke
Orval Overall - June 7, 2009
it doesn't surprise me, you seem easily confused
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
help me out then
say something funny.
Orval Overall - June 7, 2009
Help Wanted - Job still open
Help Wanted – Hitting Coach
Major League Baseball Team located in Chicago (North Side) in need of hitting coach.
If you can teach any of our players to hit to the opposite field you are hired.
parrotinct - June 7, 2009
Stupid
Everyone was going to send GP to the HOF last year. Its not his fault certain players don’t execute
heine41 - June 7, 2009
I never heard one single positive thing about Perry!!!
He got canned by Larussa in STL years ago. I don’t know why he still has a job.
Itchy - June 7, 2009
Last year when our players were tearing the cover off the ball? Or the year before?
You probably didn’t see much around here because there wasn’t too much to be negative about
heine41 - June 7, 2009
I prefer to use negative reinforcement. Perry never has been praised
here or anywhere else. This team has never been tearing the cover off the ball. Most years, they’re lucky to get one guy with 100 RBIs!@!
Itchy - June 7, 2009
the beatings will continue
until morale improves.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
there is nothing reinforcing about most peoples brand of negativity
Last year, five players with over 75 rbis, five with over 20 HR’s and one with 19
heine41 - June 7, 2009
And zero production in the playoffs!
But it wasn’t Perry’s fault, he’s the most awesome hitting coach ever. Just look at those awesome ABs we’ve been having.
Itchy - June 7, 2009
you understand
he can’t actually go up and MAKE them bat the right way, right?
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
C'mon Itchy, you're smart enough to know that a team wide slump is hardly ever the Hitting Coaches fault.
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009
I know, but how about a change? Why not?
Obviously, what we’re doing isn’t working, is it????
Itchy - June 7, 2009
I told ya, they need a shrink, the whole team is pressing...
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009
I'd prefer a drill Sgt. to kick some asses!!
Itchy - June 7, 2009
Tough Love could work...
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009
with this fan-base
I wonder why that is
heine41 - June 7, 2009
Yeah, it's the fans fault!!
Sorry we can’t all be pollyana dreamers that refuse to criticize bad play and accept mediocrity.
Itchy - June 7, 2009
I will criticize bad play
When it merits. I also understand what baseball is, and there are EXTREME highs and EXTREME lows. I believe in averages and the length of the season. I believe in supporting my team, not ripping them apart because its the convenient thing to do.
I’m sorry I wear my positivity on my sleeve. But i think people who get off on just putting the team down are weak, and are afraid to care, and are afraid to be hurt by heart breaking losses.
It’s chicken shit. It’s a defense mechanism. Man up, get behind your team and bleed blue.
heine41 - June 7, 2009
don't deflect the argument
the debate was that the cubs were tearing the cover off the ball, and i proved that. but thats ok
heine41 - June 7, 2009
never been praised?
He was considered a large cog to the better Mariners’ hitting teams, and was very instrumental in the approach at the plate that won us 97 games last year
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
Prove it
Itchy - June 7, 2009
Cards and Brewers lose
We had a chance to gain ground , I suppose we might still but overall this sucks.
Doggie Stalker - June 7, 2009
C'mon Ascanio, two more!
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009
I'm thinking about joining the dark side and becoming a troll.
Clearly they’re having much more fun than I am at this point.
dtpollitt - June 7, 2009

Whew, thanks zevkal, I needed that.
dtpollitt - June 7, 2009

zevkalman - June 7, 2009

I really hope this isn't the beginning of Dome's patented decline
but he’s 3 for 19 in June, and has one homerun since April
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
He had a bad second half last year, that's hardly a patented decline...
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009
he started scuffling once June began

WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
Good lord.
You are just ridiculous.

“If you’re a fan of pitching, and poor at-bats, this is your kind of ball game!
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009

zevkalman - June 7, 2009
Sah-weeeeet. If Brenley's a troll, I'm definitely joining in.
dtpollitt - June 7, 2009
I think Brenly calls 'em as they see 'em. And he knows baseball.
OTOH, Ascanio is pitching a hell of a game. They have some good young arms.
zevkalman - June 7, 2009

buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
BB: "Poor at-bats". Brenly isn't a happy camper today.
zevkalman - June 7, 2009
nor should he be
Cubs have wasted about a 1,000 opportunities to win this game
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
We wasted quite a few chances yesterday, too.
Vermont Cubs Fan - June 7, 2009
to be fair
so have the Reds. It’s almost like… they’re competing!
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
that actually makes it worse in my eyes
Cincy has given us numerous opportunities to win the game, and we haven’t taken them
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
and...
we’ve done the same right back. The other team
istrying to beat us.drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
lol people drive me nuts
its like they forget that there is another team trying to get outs. its like they think we are striking out in tee-ball
heine41 - June 7, 2009
Patton up in the pen.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Fonty
Ks. Three outs.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009

I’m out of here. If the Cubs win in the next inning, I give you permission to toss me off of the next game thread.
Go Cubs!
Cubfansince1957 - June 7, 2009

drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
3-2

drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
I'm sure the Reds wouldn't mind if we put Marmol back in the game.
He’ll only walk everyone he faces.
dtpollitt - June 7, 2009
Did we have the "off" Marmol again today?
Vermont Cubs Fan - June 7, 2009
he faced two batters

drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
One might say that.
Or, if you’re just baselining it with this season, then no, he was right on par.
dtpollitt - June 7, 2009
Yeah
he pretty much cost us the game.
ElHijoDelRonSanto - June 7, 2009
but if someone would have swung at any of those pitches, he would have been praised for being so nasty
its a fine line between nasty and awful
heine41 - June 7, 2009
Dickerson
walks
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Uh Oh
cubsfaninatl - June 7, 2009
Pick 'em off! Ascanio has a great move...
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009
i cannot believe this weekend
just got back 30 minutes ago from Cincy after watching the debacle last night
left my family reunion there .. they’ve been there for 5 hours in the sun
cubnational - June 7, 2009
brother just called .. the kids are melting .. they're gone
cubnational - June 7, 2009
Think of all the fun we have been having.
Doggie Stalker - June 7, 2009
I was having fun.
My mountain hike was nearly 7 miles long.
Vermont Cubs Fan - June 7, 2009
yeah, can imagine
cubnational - June 7, 2009
Only Patton is left in the pen
this is probably gonna be another game in which he sees no action
lexmarklover - June 7, 2009
No Marshall is in the pen too
With the day off tomorrow he could be used but it would be back to back days. Guzman is also available. Did not throw nearly as much as Marmol
Doggie Stalker - June 7, 2009
I'm feeling very troll-ish today...this is gonna be where we lose the game, folks.
I predict a double-clutch or an error from the left side of the infield.
dtpollitt - June 7, 2009
well, the pressure is on us
cubnational - June 7, 2009
WHY is Fontenot still at 3B?
why .my God .. WHY
cubnational - June 7, 2009
Either him or Fox...
salparadise23 - June 7, 2009
At this point I'd take my chances with Fox's D, Just to get his stick in the game...
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009
who would you play there?
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
well, after last night, give Fox the doubt
Plenty of doubt to go around .. let’s just share all the love
cubnational - June 7, 2009
because our other option is supposedly worse on defense than he is
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
because Ramis shoulder
fell off
Orval Overall - June 7, 2009
Because he had a GREAT 2008...
…which was in a limited role, with limited PAs, and that ws more than enough to convince Lou that he should be playing EVERY FRIGGIN’ DAY.
dtpollitt - June 7, 2009
Hope Ascanio isn't out of gas
Itchy - June 7, 2009
Reds
are trying the hit and run, but Phillips keeps fouling it off.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Deep right center!
Dome makes the catch, Dickerson has to go back to first! One out.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
yay Fuku
cubnational - June 7, 2009
let's have a double play please.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
my SIL got hit by a Maloney foul ball last night
it went right over my mitt .. i think i will never hear the end of it
cubnational - June 7, 2009
so cubs fans can't field either now?
It’s catching…
Ross - June 7, 2009
sigh .. yes ...
cubnational - June 7, 2009
well, my brother DID catch it ..
so technically, there’s still hope for the season
cubnational - June 7, 2009
Can't we do that thing where we start our relievers and close with our starters? Maybe that would be more successful.
dtpollitt - June 7, 2009
hahahahah
ned yost would like you to hire him
heine41 - June 7, 2009
Nix lines a basehit to center
Dickerson to third. One out.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
shitttttt
lexmarklover - June 7, 2009
Poetic justice in Play.
cubnational - June 7, 2009
and once again, the game could be handed to Fontenot
cubnational - June 7, 2009
did he have a play
on that?
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
could be
cubnational - June 7, 2009
uh oh. i have a different feeling about this one.
endtimes near.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
Now can we have a double play?
Pretty please?
Vermont Cubs Fan - June 7, 2009
IBB to Hernandez
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Now you have to load the bases and set up a force at every bag.
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009
Roselli
to the plate.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Get ready for a chopper to 3rd....
Itchy - June 7, 2009
and if Fonty throws high to home again, then I hereby give everyone permission to bitch away and I won't say a word...
ballhawk - June 7, 2009
Rosales
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
oh for pete's sake.
does it REALLY matter?
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
well, it's his name, so I assume so
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
fastball strike. 0-1
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
grounded foul
0-2
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Isn't this the no name guy who beat us last night too???
razzpunk - June 7, 2009

lexmarklover - June 7, 2009
DON'T HIT A HIGH CHOPPR TO FONTENOT
dtpollitt - June 7, 2009
He will throw a high chopper to home
Greggle - June 7, 2009
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Orval Overall - June 7, 2009

drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
And the runner will be out!
Vermont Cubs Fan - June 7, 2009
my heart stopped a minute when Fontenot threw that
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
DON'T HIT A HIGH CHOPPR TO ANYONE
BigJohnAZ - June 7, 2009
I see what you did there, lil Jon.
dtpollitt - June 7, 2009
:-) lol
BigJohnAZ - June 7, 2009
that sounds like an invitation
Doggie Stalker - June 7, 2009
Grounder to third
Fonty throws home. ONE out. No throw to first. Two outs!
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
how bout another out!
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
One more josey
lexmarklover - June 7, 2009
the outlaw josey ascanio!
ballhawk - June 7, 2009
Micah Owings
to pinch hit. Outside, 1-0.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Wowie, the clinic last night helped ol Fonte out, didn't it?
cubnational - June 7, 2009
Yikes! Owings can hit!
Itchy - June 7, 2009
Whoa! Thought we were seeing a replay of last night for a second there!
razzpunk - June 7, 2009
i wanted to soak my drawers their for a second
cubnational - June 7, 2009
lined foul
1-1
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
C'mon Jose, just one more...
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009

1-2
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009

WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
thank you
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
stick him.
buckmulligan - June 7, 2009
One more fastball Jose!
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009
Ironic to be beat by a pitcher getting a hit with risp when none of our hitters have been able to
razzpunk - June 7, 2009
Or not!
razzpunk - June 7, 2009
He won't beat us as he Ks!
Vermont Cubs Fan - June 7, 2009
beat?
beat???? HE BEAT NO ONE!
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Ironic to post this and have it not happen
You must be so disappointed.
Orval Overall - June 7, 2009

Itchy - June 7, 2009
Big out!
salparadise23 - June 7, 2009
JOSE I LOVE YOU
lexmarklover - June 7, 2009
Yes well check back in the threads
and see who wanted him in to start the 8th. Yes Drew he might have sucked then but anyone but Marmol.
Patton could have walked two guys and got none out too.
Doggie Stalker - June 7, 2009
I'm just saying
you can’t apply performance piecemeal like that. He would have faced different hitters, etc.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
He faced most of the line up but my main point was
Lou is a F)(^%^R%%%ing IDIOT for putting Mamol in AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN
Is there anyone left besides Lou that does NOT think he has been overused ( maybe Blou) ?
Doggie Stalker - June 7, 2009
I think
that Marmol’s issues are mental.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Ascanio
is earning his paycheck.
Orval Overall - June 7, 2009
sign that boy to a nice fat contract
cubnational - June 7, 2009
the other side of the negativity coin lol
heine41 - June 7, 2009
I think Ascanio will see more time now
Which is good, because Piniella is going to kill Marmol at this pace.
SouthernCub - June 7, 2009
also would be nice if we didn't have TWO relievers who are lost at the back of the pen
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
Yes
SouthernCub - June 7, 2009
Back from Taco Bell...
And we’re still alive.
CubsBullsBears - June 7, 2009
whatd you get?
Orval Overall - June 7, 2009
Steak Grilled stuffed burrito...
And those 89 cents chicken soft tacos.
CubsBullsBears - June 7, 2009
don't relax just yet...
it is Taco Bell after all.
ballhawk - June 7, 2009
what if the Cubs get the lead this inning
will lou bring patton in to close???
lexmarklover - June 7, 2009
Who is this Patton of whom you speak?
CubsBullsBears - June 7, 2009
that's what Lou is asking Trammel right now
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
Guzman?
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
i think he's getting a day of rest
lexmarklover - June 7, 2009
can't he do that
tomorrow?
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
yeah i was thinking that as well
lexmarklover - June 7, 2009
phew .. I knew Fontenot was going to get that back at him
cubnational - June 7, 2009
now gogdonnit, Cubs HIT THE FREAKING BALL
cubnational - June 7, 2009
With the pitching we get from most of our pitchers we would be outstanding if we had some offense!
razzpunk - June 7, 2009
Our pitching staff has allowed the 3rd least amount of runs in all of baseball.
SackMan - June 7, 2009
and we don't think the offense is going to come around?
heine41 - June 7, 2009
Reed Johnson
leads off.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Calling a home run by RJ
mrtobby - June 7, 2009
nope
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
almost
SouthernCub - June 7, 2009
thought you had it
Orval Overall - June 7, 2009
crap
AUCub - June 7, 2009
Fly ball to left
Nix back to the track, and makes the catch. one out.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
let's go fox
SouthernCub - June 7, 2009
Len says we will see Patton (who?) in the bottom
of the inning
cubswgnrocks - June 7, 2009
gotta go to him at some point...
SouthernCub - June 7, 2009
this has to be one of the most boring games I have ever seen ..
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
I think it's pretty interesting...
just not a lot of production, but lots of chances
SouthernCub - June 7, 2009
either team has to suck really bad if there were so many chances with no production
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
my family just left the park
he said the atmosphere is completely dead .. the Cubs fans are wilted
cubnational - June 7, 2009
I would be out of the park too
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
what do you consider exciting?
one team or the other has had a pretty good chance to score every inning
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
yes, it's like no one wants to win..that's not exciting in my book
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
maybe the pitchers want to win???????????????
heine41 - June 7, 2009
Fox
fouls it away. 2-2
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
now would be a good time to start hitting
AUCub - June 7, 2009
I took a nap and woke up to find that find that the battle of suckitude is still on
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
Fastball outside
3-2
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Fox
liner to center for a base hit. Blanco up.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
jake fox single
doofus cubs guy - June 7, 2009
who needs XBH?
AUCub - June 7, 2009
let's go blanco
SouthernCub - June 7, 2009
Base hit...
I thought Dickerson would dive and rob us… again.
CubsBullsBears - June 7, 2009
alright jake, atta boy
heine41 - June 7, 2009
a double here would be nice...
though that might not score fox.
SouthernCub - June 7, 2009
Time for Lilly to pinch-run. Gotta break up that double-play...
ballhawk - June 7, 2009
that would be cool .. and when he rounds home, he takes out their catcher
cubnational - June 7, 2009
where's Jason Marquis when you need him?
AUCub - June 7, 2009
currently
beating the tar out of St. Louis.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
I suppose that'll work too
AUCub - June 7, 2009
in St. Louis playing the birds?
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
I lost track - has Z pinch hit yet?
ballhawk - June 7, 2009
nope
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
not yet :)
heine41 - June 7, 2009
But only a few more years til he retires, apparently.
dtpollitt - June 7, 2009
Blanco
swings and misses.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
How about a 3 base error to get the run in?
BigJohnAZ - June 7, 2009
I like Blanco's glove, but he's a baaaaad hitter
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
I meant to do that
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
terrrubbbble
Orval Overall - June 7, 2009
Ouch...
Horrible swing.
CubsBullsBears - June 7, 2009

1-1
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Blanco
fouls one off. 1-2
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009

SackMan - June 7, 2009
C'mon Andres!
Jimmyeatworld - June 7, 2009

drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Blanco

drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
Alright!
SackMan - June 7, 2009
blanco singles - fox to 2nd
doofus cubs guy - June 7, 2009

SouthernCub - June 7, 2009

Here we go!!
Itchy - June 7, 2009
yeah Andres!!!!!!!!!
lexmarklover - June 7, 2009
now you pinch run...
ballhawk - June 7, 2009
...or at least get Lilly to stare at the catcher from the top step of the dugout
ballhawk - June 7, 2009
or put a moth on him
heine41 - June 7, 2009
taken
for a strike. 0-1.
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
just hit it out!
AUCub - June 7, 2009
that was a hangin slider for called strike
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
Come on fat boy!
SackMan - June 7, 2009
check swing
1-1
drewishdrewid - June 7, 2009
soto will not be bunting here
SouthernCub - June 7, 2009
he should not be bunting anywhere
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009

CubsBullsBears - June 7, 2009
Soto GOs out into a double play..ha ha ha
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009

cubnational - June 7, 2009

heine41 - June 7, 2009

cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
we're Cub fans .. we have a high tolerance of reality
cubnational - June 7, 2009
I want this game over, if for no other reason than I don't want to see another Uncle Buck commercial
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009

cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
What a crappy non-clutch bunch of no account bunglers!
Soto’s career year must have been last year……
razzpunk - June 7, 2009
how can you say that?
cause he has had a shit start to one year?
heine41 - June 7, 2009
If nothing else
We sure do love to make snap judgments around here.
Not Bruce Froemming - June 7, 2009
I'm glad you said "we" there since you make plenty
WanderingWanderer - June 7, 2009
no kidding
someone earlier suggested signing ascanio to a ‘fat contract’
i couldn’t tell if they were kidding
heine41 - June 7, 2009
This game won't have a winner
It’ll just have one team that’s less inept than the other.
Not Bruce Froemming - June 7, 2009
lol, very true
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
good luck patton
may the force be with you

SackMan - June 7, 2009
I don't really mind that
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
ball one
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
it's like two amateur boxers flailing away
and neither can score enough points or land the right blows to take out their guy
cubnational - June 7, 2009
Except nobody's throwing their popcorn
SackMan - June 7, 2009
patton wants to be a professional by bringing his cheeks closer to the blow

cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009
2-1..patton missed way inside
cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009

cubsnlinux - June 7, 2009

SouthernCub - June 7, 2009
