And this is why "this time it counts" is so incredibly dumb.
The hitter for the last place Orioles just drove in the go ahead run off of the pitcher from the last place Padres. Why two guys from last place teams are allowed to determine which team has HFA in the World Series is absurd.
Give all teams a much needed week off, and move the trade deadline up so that it happens during that time. Guys get to rest and get healthy and see their families…and the players get a break, too!

I was thinking about it when Bell was pitching, hehe
Azul Cachorro - July 14, 2009
off a misplayed ball by a d-back.
this is ridiculous.
we probably won’t be worrying about it in october though.
northsider10 - July 14, 2009
Probably not
The principle of it is a different story.
Ace Venom - July 14, 2009
It's stupid because these things come in streaks
There’s almost no point for NL fans to get excited about it.
Ace Venom - July 14, 2009
LILLY 4 MVP
jesus christos - July 14, 2009
Considering he didn't get to play...
Ace Venom - July 14, 2009
We should all go online
And vote for Lilly as the ASG MVP
Azul Cachorro - July 14, 2009
i was thinking upton.
sadly the fan vote is only 20%
northsider10 - July 14, 2009
18 straight retired?
what is this, a cubs game?
northsider10 - July 14, 2009
Oh there's Bud Selig
How do you like this? The NL hasn’t had home field advantage in years because you got a bright idea.
Ace Venom - July 14, 2009
It was all santo's idea though
/sarcasm
jkobus - July 14, 2009
ADRIAN GONZALEZ!!!
Azul Cachorro - July 14, 2009
Come on Howard
All we need is a base hit
Ace Venom - July 14, 2009
C'mon Ryan...
Hilary Lee - July 14, 2009
come on howard
jesus christos - July 14, 2009
Sigh
Hilary Lee - July 14, 2009
howard should join the cubs
jesus christos - July 14, 2009
IDIOT.
northsider10 - July 14, 2009
Howard strikes out
I’d swear the ASG was rigged in the AL’s favor.
Ace Venom - July 14, 2009
i should vote howard for mvp ironically
jesus christos - July 14, 2009
any idea
why the fans sounded like they were booing McCann and Gonzalez?
bheidge - July 14, 2009
replaced cards
jesus christos - July 14, 2009
wow again
I expected the booing of Lilly and Braun but thats just pathetic
bheidge - July 14, 2009
Who's due up in the 9th?
kanderber - July 14, 2009
Nevermind
Upton, Hawpe, Tejada. Just said on FOX.
kanderber - July 14, 2009
anyone good left on the bench?
northsider10 - July 14, 2009
Bottom 9th coming
Ace Venom - July 14, 2009
Marquis in the pen in case the game goes into extras
Ted no happy! Me no happy!
mrtobby - July 14, 2009
They're trying to restrain Ted
from murdering the AL if he gets on.
Azul Cachorro - July 14, 2009
rally time
mrtobby - July 14, 2009
Look at the guy on the mound
Ace Venom - July 14, 2009
Can't coz I'm listening to the radio
but there’s always hope
mrtobby - July 14, 2009
i have a feeling lilly will PH, hit a game tying triple, then steal home
jesus christos - July 14, 2009
Or hit a game winning, 2 run solo home run.
Azul Cachorro - July 14, 2009
More like the streak continues
You’re not getting to this guy
Ace Venom - July 14, 2009
hitting a triple then stealing home is lillys style
jesus christos - July 14, 2009
Your right! Lilly in the on deck circle
mrtobby - July 14, 2009
yikes
daily2b - July 14, 2009
Best closer in the history of the game on the mound
BLou - July 14, 2009
wear it
daily2b - July 14, 2009
…or walk and 4 high-and-tight ones, will the AL into 2nd & 3rd on defensive indifference, and glare Rivera into a balk.
leothelip - July 14, 2009
this sucks.
straight up. this home field thing is ridiculous.
northsider10 - July 14, 2009
The ASG is rigged
Ace Venom - July 14, 2009
+1
why do i waste my time
northsider10 - July 14, 2009
Sigh.
Azul Cachorro - July 14, 2009
AL wins. Ho hum, nothing to see here
MrNFL - July 14, 2009
Not the Cubs' Fault
Don’t boo the Cubs Cards fans, boo your boy for the error.
GateCity, VA Cubs Fan - July 14, 2009
Lilly would not have given up that game winning run
Ace Venom - July 14, 2009
AL remains the superior league
It is what it is.
BLou - July 14, 2009
Can't really call it league superiority at this point
At this point, you have to wonder if the NL players realize this is for home field advantage.
Ace Venom - July 14, 2009
because of an exhibition game played & managed under made-for-tv conditions?
ballhawk - July 14, 2009
I generally agree with that statement
When you get beyond the best teams in both leagues, the AL is stronger. HOWEVER, I do not think the All Star Game is proof of this.
Hilary Lee - July 14, 2009

DrCrawdad - July 14, 2009
Pujos makes a error that costs the game
and now the Cubs lose home field advantage in the World Series! It just seems wrong!
Cub Fan Mike - July 14, 2009
here comes a babbling bud...
ballhawk - July 14, 2009
I thought the game was over
when Pujols left. I have never seen an allstar game so much about one player
bheidge - July 14, 2009
dont talk about our lord like that
jesus christos - July 14, 2009

DrCrawdad - July 14, 2009
You know, the NFL manages to alternate home/away between AFC and NFC...
…at a neutral site. Was the old way really that bad?
Ace Venom - July 14, 2009
Get Rid of the ASG
Give all teams a much needed week off, and move the trade deadline up so that it happens during that time. Guys get to rest and get healthy and see their families…and the players get a break, too!
/rimshot
CaliCub - July 14, 2009
Hey guys, How did Lilly do in the ASG?
Vermont Cubs Fan - July 14, 2009
Didn't pitch
propheteer - July 14, 2009
hit a 10 run homer
jesus christos - July 15, 2009
Bud Selig
Please just make another silly rule and have the AL permanently get home-field adv.
