The Cubs game is the main Fox-TV game this afternoon; the others are Twins/Tigers and Giants/Dodgers. The Twins/Tigers game will be seen in Minnesota, Michigan, Toledo (Detroit's Triple-A team is there), and, bizarrely, New York City, Boston and other parts of New England. The Giants/Dodgers game goes to most markets from the Rocky Mountains on West (except for Montana, which is getting the Twins). So if you're anywhere but those areas, you'll see the Cubs and Cardinals.
However, according to Fox's website, the Cubs will be playing the Rams today.
Bruce Miles has more on Milton Bradley (sorry, had to do this, Milton makes news even when he's not playing):
Milton Bradley took BP, but Lou says he day to day. Methinks those days to days are numbered in Chicago, though. I can't see this going on past this year. The Cubs probably won't call up prospect Tyler Colvin from Class AA Tennessee unless Bradley can't play anymore this year. It would be interesting to see him, though.
And there's one other game you might want to pay attention to tonight -- on the South Side of Chicago. Jake Peavy will make his White Sox debut against the Royals. Just sayin'.

Chris Carpenter and Ryan Dempster matched up on May 20 in St. Louis; the Cardinals won 2-1 in one of the games in The Series In Which The Cubs Refused To Score (two runs in three games). Carpenter also beat the Cubs at Wrigley Field on July 10. He's 9-3, 3.02 lifetime against the Cubs. Derrek Lee likes to hit against him: 14-for-42 (.333), 2 doubles, a HR.
Ryan Dempster, in addition to the loss above, has faced the Cardinals two other times this season with a 4.26 overall ERA and a pair of no-decisions. Since August 1, Dempster has been nearly as good as he was all last year, posting a 2.98 ERA in nine starts, though going only 5-4. He has walked only 16 in 60.1 innings in that time period. Ryan Ludwick is 8-for 16 vs. Demp and Skip Schumaker has hit .407 against him (11-for-27).

Glad it will be on today
But may need to take some phenigran since I assume the Cards A team announcers will be doing the game. (Buck and McCarver)
LT - September 19, 2009
Well, crap
I’m in Twins territory, but for some reason, MLB thinks my computer’s in Western Oregon. Looks like I’m screwed either way.
Stupid, stupid MLB.
Clutch16 - September 19, 2009
use a proxy server
LT - September 19, 2009
Got a good one?
Clutch16 - September 19, 2009
I’m not advocating cheating or stealing at all.
chilango2 - September 19, 2009
BTDT
It looks like it might have worked, but the response times were too slow for the MLB.TV check to function properly.
Clutch16 - September 19, 2009
Sorry dude
It works for my nefarious purposes when I use it.
chilango2 - September 19, 2009
just google free proxy servers
LT - September 19, 2009
BTDT
Which is why I asked for a specific recommendation. Awful, awful lot of chaff in that Google search
Clutch16 - September 19, 2009
try
proxy4free and check the lists. Stupid MLB and their blackouts. I guess we will get no blackouts after the Cubs win the World Series…
LT - September 19, 2009
I'll give that a shot
As game time approaches. Thanks for the tip.
Clutch16 - September 19, 2009
Almost worked
Got a couple of proxies which could resolve the URL, but each time, I got a Stream Error or Unknown Error from the MLB.TV app.
Bummer.
Clutch16 - September 19, 2009
I AM in Western Oregon
Does that mean I’ll get the game? Hmm… looking for logic in blackout restrictions is like looking for class at US Cellular.
shifafaontheside - September 19, 2009
Apparently you and I can enjoy the Giants-Dodgers game
If we so choose.
Clutch16 - September 19, 2009
There's always Pat & Ron
I haven’t heard Ron blow a gasket in a while.
shifafaontheside - September 19, 2009
I've listened to P&R
On several Saturdays this season. If I’d wanted to just listen to the games, I could have saved myself about $100 earlier this year.
Clutch16 - September 19, 2009
How can you tell if the game is available in your area?
shifafaontheside - September 19, 2009
Fox provides a listing of their stations and which game will be shown on which station
Today’s is here.
Clutch16 - September 19, 2009
Thanks
shifafaontheside - September 19, 2009
Dodgers/Giants in LA
…which means I will put the USC game on mute while I listen to Pat & Ron.
I try to avoid Faux Sports Baseball whenever they enforce these silly blackout rules.
LAcarl519 - September 19, 2009
I am also in Twins country
but at this point in the season I think I would rather watch that game anyways.
bheidge - September 19, 2009
Verlander is going to take them apart
Pavano can hold the Tigers down, but I’m predicting an 8 inning shutout affair from Verlander. Take the Under.
Clutch16 - September 19, 2009
Shut yo' mouth foo'
chilango2 - September 19, 2009
I dont think it will be that easy for the Tigers
they are feeling the pressure, above that its never easy for the opposing teams in the dome.
bheidge - September 19, 2009
PV PV PV PV PV
jesus christos - September 19, 2009
Damn
I almost wish we got the Twins/Tigers game instead…. at least that game means something.
Allie - September 19, 2009
Trade ya
Clutch16 - September 19, 2009
I did say "almost"
Allie - September 19, 2009
n/m
just saw the lineup.
i’ll be watching florida/tenn instead. if i’m going to watch a team get slaughtered its going to be one i have no attachment to.
Allie - September 19, 2009
Cubs lineup per Twittermeyer...
Riot, Dome, DLee, ARam, Bradley, Soto, Baker, Scales, Dempster
ballhawk - September 19, 2009
another small part of me dies...
jesus christos - September 19, 2009
And the Scales Experience continues for another day...
chilango2 - September 19, 2009
ah yes... the Scales of Injustice...
ballhawk - September 19, 2009
...
daver - September 19, 2009
Pic fail?
Clutch16 - September 19, 2009
Yep, lemme try again.
daver - September 19, 2009
Seriously this is Neffi like
Two weeks to go and you give a career minor leaguer who has NO CHANCE of making next years team and is just
learning to play LF a spot over a guy you really need to see play more games ( Fox).
Are there any Lou supporters out there who can explain this. Does he need a few games to vest his insurance or
something ?
Doggie Stalker - September 19, 2009
it seems aaron miles gave scales his copies of some embarassing photos of jimbo
jesus christos - September 19, 2009
Maybe
they want to trade Fox in the offseason and are afraid he will lower his value in the last two weeks? I don’t agree with that but it’s the only thing I can think of.
LT - September 19, 2009
Cause if he hits anymore home runs it might be a problem.
I realize you are grasping at straws but anyone really believe Hendry tells Lou not to play Fox much for the last two weeks so Cubs can keep his trade value high ?
Doggie Stalker - September 19, 2009
I've been pondering the same for the last 5 minutes
If Hendry is now writing the lineups, we’ve reached a new level of [fill in the blank].
chilango2 - September 19, 2009
Managerial Indifference?
Clutch16 - September 19, 2009
I was thinking more like
“disrespect towards the game and the fans,” but yours works as well.
chilango2 - September 19, 2009
technical managerial balk
BleedsbluinMI - September 19, 2009
Maybe we can bring back the college of coaches
It hasn’t been tried in about 45 years
shifafaontheside - September 19, 2009
I don't think that's the case
but whatever it is it can’t make any sense. Unless Fox has a bum knee or something that the are hiding like Sori…
LT - September 19, 2009
if fox had a bum knee
he would be out there every game
jesus christos - September 19, 2009
ooooh yeah....
huh huh
LT - September 19, 2009
Agreed.
Or, again, for God’s sake, just put Taguchi out there for defensive purposes. It’s not like any of the three are going to have much of a chance against Carpenter.
daver - September 19, 2009
yeah
and the greatest fans in the world can make buck and mccarver proud by giving taguchi a standing O
jesus christos - September 19, 2009
There ya go.
It’s a win-win-win.
daver - September 19, 2009
Approves.
Clutch16 - September 19, 2009
you have now put this picture of Lou's supporter in my head and I have
become ill.
Thanks, Jessica.
LAcarl519 - September 19, 2009
I thought next week's Giants-Cubs game was on Fox too
At least that’s what Len said last night.
chilango2 - September 19, 2009
You're right.
I forgot that game time had been changed.
Al Yellon - September 19, 2009
The probable reason for Twins/Tigers in the East Coast
is that those two squads, Yankees/Red Sox, could end up facing them in the playoffs, probably Yankees vs. AL Central winner in Round 1.
toonsterwu - September 19, 2009
Show AL games in AL markets?
Wonders never cease…
Clutch16 - September 19, 2009
Bradley has been scratched
Hoff in
LT - September 19, 2009
Self-scratched, according to Gordo & Sully.
daver - September 19, 2009
oh boy
jesus christos - September 19, 2009
And away we go!
daver - September 19, 2009
I haven't had a chance to make a Bradley FanPost yet this season
Can I have this one? Pretty please?
Clutch16 - September 19, 2009
what would be the new topic to be explored?
LAcarl519 - September 19, 2009
i heard bradley eats babies for breakfast
jesus christos - September 19, 2009
Thats a false rumor
started by Stone and Sullivan. The truth is that he eats them for dinner
bheidge - September 19, 2009
oh right
he uses babies blood in his cereal, my bad
jesus christos - September 19, 2009
why doesn't he snack on Miles?
LAcarl519 - September 19, 2009
hes too small
jesus christos - September 19, 2009
How many times
Bradley scratches himself.
Clutch16 - September 19, 2009
you mean like this?
LT - September 19, 2009
You've got dibs. Take it away!
daver - September 19, 2009
Why does Lou put up with this asshole?
Park him on the bench for a week. If he’s so hurt, let him sit. Why is he rewarded with playing time?
He sucks anyways. 40 RBI’s………To all the people wondering about Hendry controling the Fox situation, I am with you. its going to look bad if Fox has better stats than your big free agent signing. And if they are doing that and hurting a player for their own reasons they should be fired. I want to see what kind of a backbone Ricketts has when he finally takes over this sorry team.
TJ11 - September 19, 2009
I read Lou's postgame remarks...
and have come to this conclusion: I am hopping on the “Fire Lou” bandwagon if I hear him say “What are you going to do?” just one more time. Should be on that bandwagon in about 3 hours.
I just can’t fathom how a manager can repeatedly blather on about not knowing what to do. Like managing a baseball game is beyond any one person’s capabilities. Like errors and defensive incompetence are unavoidable. Like sending Aaron Miles in to pinch hit and watching him pop out to SS is a huge suprise. Like trying to have Scales learn how to play outfield on the fly and then possibly cost the team an extra base was completely unpredictable. Like putting players in positions to succeed is poppycock.
Whew. Failed to breathe for about 40 seconds there.
Kansas25 - September 19, 2009
aaron miles popping out to SS is considered a good AB
jesus christos - September 19, 2009
No, Aaron Miles running the count to 3-0...
… and THEN striking out would be a good AB. At least he’d be making the pitcher throw some extra pitches instead of the traditional 4-3 on the first pitch.
Al Yellon - September 19, 2009
that works too
whatever avoids the double play
jesus christos - September 19, 2009
I applaud both your outrage and your use of the word "poppycock."
daver - September 19, 2009
Enjoy the game all.
I’ll be watching the Hawkeyes on ABC.
sue369 - September 19, 2009
no multi-tasking today?
LAcarl519 - September 19, 2009
Not so much when it
comes to my Hawkeyes who are leading 7-0. :D
sue369 - September 19, 2009
Just checking
You’ve been a pretty solidly on the side of MB. Do you still feel that way?
shifafaontheside - September 19, 2009
If they don't trade
him in the off season I will be glad to have him back next year.
sue369 - September 19, 2009
Santo is about to interview Lou on WGN radio
This should be fascinating, in-depth journalism
shifafaontheside - September 19, 2009
If Piniella says "What are you going to do?"
Kansas25 is gonna have an aneurysm. Please redact that when you report what he said.
chilango2 - September 19, 2009
Ronnie: So lou what are you going to do for thanksgiving?
Lou: i dont know, what are you going to do?
jesus christos - September 19, 2009
I love Ronnie but this interview is about as informative as a Carrie Muskat Blog Post.
TJ11 - September 19, 2009
Very end of pregame:
“What I say? I don’t like to make excuses, I really don’t, but we’re banged up in just about every department.” ~ Lou
Just caught the very end – did he say anything about Fox being injured?
daver - September 19, 2009
He must be healthy otherwise he would play
TJ11 - September 19, 2009
Now Bruce Miles on with Ron.
daver - September 19, 2009
Maybe Bruce will explain the Fox/Scales debate
TJ11 - September 19, 2009
Nothin'.
His comments were solid but pretty middle of the road. He probably wasn’t going to get too controversial with Ron.
daver - September 19, 2009
did Bruce really say that he thought our middle infield defense was good/OK?
does he watch the same team that I watch?
LAcarl519 - September 19, 2009
Maybe he just doesn't watch any other teams
Including the ones we play…
Clutch16 - September 19, 2009
He said Theriot was "solid" or something like that.
He may look at UZR numbers.
daver - September 19, 2009
Theriot might be "solid" if he played 2B.
At SS, not so much.
Al Yellon - September 19, 2009
Nothing at all about fox
I thought he’d take his red swingline stapler and ask him to move his locker to the basement
shifafaontheside - September 19, 2009
Guz unavailable with a back injury
Fuld can PR or play D.
Clutch16 - September 19, 2009
back? tought it was triceps?
BleedsbluinMI - September 19, 2009
i thought it was his oblique
jesus christos - September 19, 2009
I've heard both
meaning it’s BS.
chilango2 - September 19, 2009
It's according to Judd
So you know it must be calm and accurate.
