Brooms and Sweeps

I have mentioned this before but one of the reasons I will always love Dempster is that after the White Sox had beaten the Cubs in the first two games of weekend series at Wrigley, some Sox fans snuck some mini brooms into the bleachers and were waving them around before the game, Dempster went out there with a hose. First he yelled up at them " Did you come straight from work ?" and then he doused a small amount of water on them.

Cards won and clinched - Cubs now "only" have wild card chance

With a 3 game winning streak, and 8 games to be won, it can still happen. We overtake the Giants tomorrow, and need to hope for victories by the Cardinals (a funny feeling that), Blue Jays and Nationals…

I felt so conflicted about wanting the Cards to win.

I know logically it gave the Cubs the better scenario to sneak into the playoffs, but still…

…it’s hard giving up that divisional crown. Oh well.

When I left, Wisconsin was leading 38-17.

Michigan State apparently attempted a furious comeback. Wisconsin 38, Michigan State 30. We got lucky, but it will take more than luck for us next week when we play at Minnesota.

Who does Michigan State play next week?

And there was no real comeback. We put in our second string QB against UW’s second team. It wasn’t as close as the score looks. We got our butts handed to us. Most disappointing effort by the Spartans in 2 years.
