The Bears have won their spectacle of a game in England this afternoon; now, a Rangers win over the Cardinals would make it just about a perfect day for Chicago sports fans.
Perhaps tonight, there won't be any egregiously bad umpiring calls, as there were in Game 3. Replay NOW!
Edwin Jackson will face Derek Holland in tonight's game. Full game details after the jump.

Go Cardinals
yes, I seriously am rooting for them to win. I said it before the series started, Cards in 6.
Cubbie-Tim - October 23, 2011
For some weird reason i find myself rooting for them too
… but every time i see ryan theriot i start rooting for the Rangers again. lol I still hate em bu I gotta give credit where credit is do tho, and wut the Cards have pulled off this year is really impressive. Maybe some day the cubs can make some october headlines that arent about GMs, getting swept or blowing a series.
chit0wn - October 23, 2011
I usually tend to root for the NL and I respect the Cardinals.
But I find myself doing the same thing..rooting for the Rangers when I see Theriot (or McGwire…he’s another one…ugh).
katie casey - October 24, 2011
why? how can you have a cubs american flag as your avatar and be for the cards?
just truly, truly curious
mikegncb34 - October 23, 2011
I dont hate a team
i respect a rival.
also, my closest friend here in Austin, is from St Louis, once our respective team is out of it (NHL and MLB) we support the others team.
Cubbie-Tim - October 23, 2011
If you say so
mikegncb34 - October 23, 2011
well isnt that cute
bheidge - October 23, 2011
Thats cool
I hate the Cards but I can respect you cheering for a friends team.
AussieCub - October 24, 2011
Respect?
Sure.
Cheer for them? No.
Al Yellon - October 24, 2011
Eh.
I like Pujols and some other players on the team. I don’t care about the Rangers in the slightest. And would prefer the NL, and even NL central to win.
Arbusto - October 24, 2011
Tired of hearing how weak the central is.
katie casey - October 24, 2011
But Berkman is on their team...
Cubbiegoon - October 23, 2011
that is the hardest part
but i cannot stand Hamilton for Texas, i hate seeing someone spoken of light a saint for no longer doing illegal drugs. he deserves to be treated just like a steroid user, since both are illegal narcotics.
Cubbie-Tim - October 24, 2011
like not light*
Cubbie-Tim - October 24, 2011
Hamilton
So, you dislike more the way others view Hamilton, rather than Hamilton himself?
memphiscub - October 24, 2011
GO RANGERS!
Any idea time of press conference Tuesday and if any will be broadcast live? Transcripts posted online?
I think Theo will lay out the future.
mrcubsfan - October 23, 2011
I assume the n/c time will be announced Monday...
… and it should be broadcast live somewhere. Maybe even on ESPN or MLB Network, as it is a pretty big national story.
Al Yellon - October 23, 2011
GO RANGERS
Beat the crap out of the Cards and wipe the smug off of them!
Swoosie - October 23, 2011
Please God, not the Cardinals.
dtpollitt - October 23, 2011
I just remember the dreadful 05-06 years when we had to endure
White Sox and St .Louis championship seasons in back-to-back years.
mikegncb34 - October 23, 2011
Go other team!!!
eths - October 23, 2011
Go Rangers!!
How can any of you call yourselves Cubs fans and root for the Cards?! Yuck. Isn’t that a rule?
slcathena - October 23, 2011
Yes.
It’s a rule.
Al Yellon - October 23, 2011
Agreed,
There are only two occasions where it is acceptable to root for the Cardinals.
1. If they are playing a team that the Cubs are involved in a pennant race with and the Cardinals are not involved in said race.
2. If they are playing the Yankees, creating a moral dilemma which I hope I never have to face.
jpeters407 - October 23, 2011
agree to disagree
there is nothing wrong with rooting for any team once the Cubs are out of it.
Cubbie-Tim - October 23, 2011
unless its the cardinals
i’d be for the freakin white sox over the cardinals
mikegncb34 - October 23, 2011
This. A thousand times this.
Rooting for the Cards is not okay.
slcathena - October 23, 2011
agree to disagree
it is ok to cheer for any team once the Cubs are out
Cubbie-Tim - October 23, 2011
can't do it myself...
I hate the Brewers and Astros, as well… I wish them all nothing but miserable failure. Always. Forever.
daily2b - October 23, 2011
its not for everyone
but that doesnt make it wrong to do
Cubbie-Tim - October 23, 2011
have you tried to fight it at all??
daily2b - October 23, 2011
But it does not make it right either.
You can root for the Cards all you want, you have that right. I already stated that for me, the only time I could even think was if they were playing the Yankees in the series. Even then, I would not really know until the games started.
jpeters407 - October 23, 2011
if that was the scenario
Go Yankees.
bheidge - October 23, 2011
Reds with Votto are getting there...
daily2b - October 23, 2011
hey
people pretty pissed in Boston??
daily2b - October 23, 2011
More like sad
And trying to figure out how they blew a sure thing. They were convinced, even in mid september, that they coudln’t lose.
slcathena - October 23, 2011
That's how much they've changed
Before 2004, they would have been convinced the Sox would have found a way to blow it.
Josh Timmers - October 23, 2011
can't wait till we're that cocky and annoying!!!
daily2b - October 23, 2011
Indeed!
slcathena - October 23, 2011
Totally true
It was weird to have a bunch of Boston Fans tell me I was being a “pessimistic Cubs Fan” in retrospect.
slcathena - October 23, 2011
Not me.
Too many obnoxious White Sox fans in my neck of the woods.
katie casey - October 24, 2011
Not really rooting for the Cards...
txtom - October 23, 2011
Go Rangers!
BTW I just noticed the “Bleed Epstein Blue” graphic in the upper left-hand corner. Fantastic!
mikegncb34 - October 23, 2011
OMG
Just noticed that when I read your post. WIN!
slcathena - October 23, 2011
Thanks!
That went up during the wait. I’ll leave it up through Tuesday, then Theo gets to work.
Al Yellon - October 23, 2011
I am so excited about Theo.
The Red Sox fans here are uniformly sad. It’s been a topic of much discussion at work, and everyone feels like the Cubs won on this one. :)
slcathena - October 23, 2011
Not really rooting for the Cards...
But I am rooting against the Rangers.
Tough choice since I live in Houston I can’t root for Dallas.
As a National League fan I can’t root for any team with a DH
txtom - October 23, 2011
I don't care who wins this...can't wait for Opening Day now.
I think I’ll have more patience with Epstein than I did with Ricketts seeing that he has proven himself already. Whatever he decides as far as players and manager will be alright by me. I feel like I’m a different fan than I was a month ago…I’ll let Theo and TR worry about the Cubs and sit back and enjoy the ride………….I think :)
GO CUBS!
cooliogirl47 - October 23, 2011
see response below lol
mikegncb34 - October 23, 2011
Even if
said manager is Quade?
Swoosie - October 23, 2011 via mobile
There is no way that happens
and if it does I will retract all good will I currently have for the cubs future.
slcathena - October 23, 2011
yep....I'd think there was a good reason.....as in "buying time" for someone better
cooliogirl47 - October 23, 2011
Nope
don’t want any more “buying time” for a good manager. Quade needs to go as all those useless coaches do. Quade is NOT a big league manager. Give me a good manager that will be around.
That is all.
Swoosie - October 23, 2011
...
It’s not that I disagree with this at all. But it’s just a different vibe now. A month ago this fan base was one that was pulling for an organization that looked like it was going absolutely no where. More importantly, it looked like they weren’t exactly doing much about it. I think the last few days have just been a giant shot in the arm to the Cubs and its fanbase.
mikegncb34 - October 23, 2011
reply fail.
was supposed to go to coolio
mikegncb34 - October 23, 2011
I agree, and you exactly got the jist of what I meant :)
cooliogirl47 - October 23, 2011
anybody know what Craig's natural position is?
daily2b - October 23, 2011
Laura Bush looks great!
daily2b - October 23, 2011
Barbara Bush was a big reason I voted for George the first.
She was pro-education and just gave the impression of being everyone’s grandma. How could you vote against grandma?
jpeters407 - October 23, 2011
Laura is hotter
daily2b - October 23, 2011
And also in education
teacher/librarian…something…
slcathena - October 23, 2011
She was a teacher.
jpeters407 - October 23, 2011
The "Where's the beef?" woman was hotter than Barbara Bush
Doggie Stalker - October 23, 2011
as much younger Barbara Bush was a looked
but that was well before my time
Cubbie-Tim - October 23, 2011
I am not saying she was hot.
She was an impressive woman, and in reality the first woman usually gets more accomplished than the President. Think of Nancy Reagan’s war on drugs, pay attention to what their pet project is when you vote for the best of a bunch of bad choices for President.
jpeters407 - October 23, 2011
Pro-education
… wut went wrong with her son George?
chit0wn - October 23, 2011
I think he had book smarts but no common sense.
Naw, check that, he didn’t have book smarts either.
jpeters407 - October 23, 2011
he had daddy's money
no education needed
Cubbie-Tim - October 23, 2011
i'm sure daddy being head of the CIA helped him alot at Yale too
… I mean if u were a professor would u have the balls to flunk him? u’d prolly disappear
chit0wn - October 23, 2011
LOL
so true.
Swoosie - October 23, 2011
There is a difference between
being smart and being educated -
Hammer - October 24, 2011
My sister is named Laura Bush
And my mom, at the time of the first Bush presidency, was Barbara Bush.
Arbusto - October 24, 2011
Hmm... Joe Buck drops a bombshell that the Cubs once had Josh Hamilton and no one has anything to say here?
(ducks)
ballhawk - October 23, 2011
who needs him...?
daily2b - October 23, 2011
Al reacted on Twitter
Josh Timmers - October 23, 2011
twitter sucks
Hammer - October 24, 2011
I don't like bringing Holland back out for the 9th
I’d rather try to keep his pitches down so that he could start Game 7.
jerry morales rules - October 23, 2011
lets him get a standing ovation as he exits
no harm IMHO
Cubbie-Tim - October 23, 2011
118 pitches with a day off.
He can pitch if needed. Hopefully he won’t be and the Rangers win in 6.
jpeters407 - October 23, 2011
i am staicking with Cards in 6
but i am happy either way, and this has been a well played/coached series (minus game 3)
Cubbie-Tim - October 23, 2011
sticking**
