The first game of the Cubs' spring training schedule for 2012 is just 45 days away, and today, the team announced its broadcast schedule.

There will be at least one broadcast for every day of the spring schedule and 30 of the 35 games will be on at least one of the outlets, either radio, broadcast or cable TV, or on the internet.
Game times are 2:05 CST through March 10, 3:05 CDT from March 11 (the beginning of Daylight Saving time) on, except as noted, on the full schedule, which you can find after the jump.

I'm really not expecting too much out of the Cubs this year
but for some crazy reason, I just can’t wait til they get going again.

Same here
it’s hard for me not to get excited about the Cubs being back. At least this season it will be hard for them to not meet my expectations, since they are quite low.
cubman987 - January 19, 2012
Low expectations but
So many interesting things to pay attention to: Sveum’s management, runs to first base, right fielding, defense, etc. No matter how they place I hope we can exit 2012 with the solid expectation that the WS is finally within grasp within just a few seasons.
Emelie - January 19, 2012
exactly!
Go Cubs!
cooliogirl47 - January 19, 2012
Absolutely
also we should get a look at some of the young/new players.
cubman987 - January 19, 2012
I agree
I’d be surprised if they win 80 games, but there’s a lot to look out for this year that should make them interesting to watch.

I miss Ronnie...
IowaCubs- - January 19, 2012
So excited
I know we’ll be mediocre at best, but I miss baseball, and this team finally has some hope.
Even if it’s very long term hope. :P

Hearing baseball on the radio
… and/or watching it on TV, at any time of year, is a great thing.
Al Yellon - January 19, 2012
Al are you ever out in Mesa for the workouts prior to the games beginning?
AzCubfan24 - January 20, 2012
Generally, no.
Sometime in future years, I hope to, but for now, it’s just for the games.
Al Yellon - January 21, 2012
As Liz Lemon says: "I want to go to there!"
Zeke - January 19, 2012
Then you should.
I’ll save you a spot on the lawn in left field.
Al Yellon - January 19, 2012
the 28th save 2 spots for us!
Madison Cub Fan - January 19, 2012
You got it.
Al Yellon - January 19, 2012
I am counting the weeks!
Madison Cub Fan - January 19, 2012
I'm afraid our Spring Training junket money is about to be spent on season tickets.
Zeke - January 20, 2012
Next year.
Al Yellon - January 20, 2012
I love the fact that they're doing this again.
It basically turns March into a full month of casual, low-pressure Cubs baseball.
daver - January 19, 2012
Who announces for the Internet broadcast?
RiskyBusiness - January 19, 2012
Last year
… it was Len Kasper and Mick Gillispie (who does the Tennessee Smokies games).
I’m pretty sure Len is returning. Don’t know about Mick.
Al Yellon - January 19, 2012
Confirmed
… via tweet from the Smokies:
Al Yellon - January 19, 2012
Thanks
RiskyBusiness - January 19, 2012
Games were not in HD last year
and I heard they won’t be in HD this year either, lame…..
When are most people going out there this year? I hate leaving Chi for St. Patricks day weekend but felt that was the best weekend to go with all the Mesa home games on Thurs, Fri and Sunday versus the Sox.
MikeJW - January 19, 2012
Six games are being televised during spring training.
It’s really not cost-effective for the Cubs to spend the money on a HD truck for that small number of telecasts.
I should be there from about 3/11 to 4/1.
Al Yellon - January 19, 2012
do you really need HD for ST games?
Madison Cub Fan - January 19, 2012
Well, yeah
when’s the last time a sporting event wasn’t in HD? It’s almost unwatchable in non-HD.
MikeJW - January 19, 2012
It's not AS watchable, true.
But for six games, can’t you live with it?
Al Yellon - January 19, 2012

lol

#firstworldproblems
daver - January 19, 2012
Wow
So you are going to be watching them all so intently that it’ll matter.
I wish I had your schedule that I could be home every day during the spring to watch them. Granted we listen to most of them on the radio…. but still it’s spring training.
Madison Cub Fan - January 19, 2012
I meant that over the course of the season we listen more than watch
the Cubs games
Madison Cub Fan - January 19, 2012
HD for any games is a plus
Also have no expectations about the Cubs really competing this year, but am really looking forward to both ST and the season any way.
wisconsinwillie - January 19, 2012
Anyone know if those WGN TV games are national or local?
I’m guessing national since every regular season WGN game is national, but not sure if spring is different. But I do feel like I remember seeing WGN spring training games in the past.
alkappy - January 19, 2012
Should be national, they always have been in the past.
If/when I find out about any Cubs spring games that will be either on ESPN or MLB Network, I will post info.
Al Yellon - January 19, 2012
Spring Training games
are always on “both” WGN services.
San Diego Smooth Jazz Man - January 24, 2012
When's the new stadium open, 2014?
I’ll go then. The Cubs will be better and they won’t have to play in Ho Ho Kam anymore.
shoemile - January 19, 2012
2014, yes.
Al Yellon - January 19, 2012
I miss, really really miss, baseball. March can't come quickly enough.
