I go every year...

…when the Cubs play in Vegas, but I have a 10 game ticket package. This year both games are afternoon starts where in the past it was night game followed by day game. Pattern has also been that major league starters go about 6 innings of first game and 3 innings of second game; if you are going to park your bucks on one of the contests go to Saturday’s game.

It does seem like a lot of $ to spend

… on a split-squad exhibition game.

It is really pricey

…and who knows how many comp tickets are given to casinos, etc. Unlike regular season Las Vegas 51’s games parking is free but that just saves you $4.00. To me the pricing is similar to paying for a top line concert here: big name artists sell out regardless of cost. It will be interesting to see attendance figure for these games with a rebuilding club.

There seem to be a fair number of Cub fans in Vegas

… who would probably go anyway. They’re marketing these bigtime to Rangers fans. My guess is the crowds will be much more Rangers fans than Cubs fans this year.

That is pretty typical

There is a huge number of Illinois transplants here in Vegas. I wouldn’t be one of them if I had any choice in the matter. It was the same last year in that the game was marketed more heavily to the Dodger fans because they know Cubs fans will come out regardless. However, I will swallow the the price to see the new look team and the two time American League champs go at it here just for the chance to see the Cubs my one time a year—actually probably twice this year if you consider the fact that Iowa will be in town this year to play the 51s in August.
